Psoas Trigger Points and Low Back Pain

If you were to compile a list of the most common pain complaints in our current culture, low back pain would consistently take a top 3 spot. In fact, some sources cite an 84% chance you will experience back pain at some point in your life. There are many possible reasons a person’s back may hurt. Today, we look at an under-the-radar trigger point in a muscle that lives on the front of your spine: psoas major.

This muscle not only suffers from the overwhelming amount of stiff spines and pelvic girdles out there but also suffers from excessive sitting posture. Shortening and tension in this tissue are not uncommon, and this type of one-sided back pain along the lower back that spills into the hip may be familiar to you. When considering sources for your back pain, don’t forget the psoas major can play a major role in your relief.
